This weekend I took photos of a book that serves kind of as a diary. In my photos I used a dream catcher to give the photo a deeper meaning. The photos below are some of my best pictures from this past weekend. My best, shot at an aperture of 3.5, a shutter speed of 1/40, and an ISO of 400. As for edits I boosted the contrast to emphasize the texture of the dream catcher, book and curtain in the back and decreased the highlights.

For this assignment we were instructed to go throughout the school and take pictures of places in or around the building we go everyday. I took a photo in the front of the school's bottom drop off loop outside. Then, using photoshop, I imported a clown to make it appear to be standing in front of the school.
Unfortunately, over the three day weekend, I left school unexpectedly early Thursday therefore, I did not pick up a camera to take home for our shooting assignment. However, some of my photos from previous assignment shoots were easily converted to black and white. The photo below I think is my best because the black and whites in this are bold but still balance out. An aperture of 3.5, a Shutter Speed of 1/25, and an ISO of 100. On Friday, I came home from school to find that my dad had decorated our house for Halloween. I started to take pictures revolving around the idea of fall, pumpkins, and leaves. Then, after having realized the photos I was taking didn't quite fit into an assignment category, I started shooting pictures of my little sister. While editing, the things I adjusted was the exposure of the picture which I brightened. I rotated the image 180 degrees as well. The photo below is my best picture with a Shutter Speed of 1/80, an Aperture of 3.5, and an ISO of 100. This assignment was all about becoming familiar with the photoshop application. We started out with a project from a former student and turned it into the picture below by increasing the vibrance of the car by manipulating the layers, darkening the background with the quick selection tool, and using the clone stamp tool to decrease the amount of glare on the hood of the car.
This weekend, I took pictures trying to capture the light and dark between the string lights I had hanging in my room and the dark environment of my bedroom. Throughout the photoshoot, I switched the subjects in the photo. I started out with a teddy bear and then a candle and then some pumpkins. During this assignment I learned that there are many different ways to take a picture that can make shadows and lights like these look really cool. The photo above is I think, one of my best photos. The aperture in this photo is 8.0, the shutter speed at 1/60, and the ISO as 400. As for editing, I toned down the clarity to kind of emphasize the light and dark and give the photo more of a depth of field. For this assignment, our class was exposed to a little more of what the photoshop application is about. We were told to keep a consistent picture throughout the collage but, change the colors of the picture in each corner. This assignment made me more familiar with copying and pasting photos into photoshop, how to change the colors and saturation of an image, and where photoshop originated. These photos are of my friends Nolan Godek and Megan Mulligan, the first pictures I had taken in this class.
Over the weekend, my family and I went to Pennsylvania to visit my grandparents. They live in the mountains and I thought, what better place to take pictures than the mountains? While exploring with the settings of the camera, I found it really difficult to get the exposure to match the brightness outside. Something I will definitely keep in mind for next week is to experiment more with the settings and bring extra sets of batteries !!!This was the best photo I shot over the weekend. Shutter Speed: 1/1000 Aperture: 4.0 ISO: 200 |
